some, if not most, get a lot of it back on tax returns, but if you pay a tax rate of 40%, which is about normal for the lower class, and only get 20% back, that still leaves 20% of their income which they never see, which is still a higher rate that most of the super rich pay.

if you dont see the issue when people like Warren Buffet are paying a smaller % of their income in taxes than people who make less than $40k a year, then its a lost cause.

then you factor in things like the cigarette tax, 99% of smokers earn less than 250k a year, 96% earn less than 150k a year. but the price of cigarettes and the taxes that follow destroy the lower class.
The Tax Foundation says, "No other federal tax hurts the poor more than the cigarette tax,"
The New Poor Tax - WSJ.com

and to beat it all, the income tax is not even close to where the damage is one.

its our sales tax that does hte most damage.

when you realize that people who cannot save money, therefore spending all their money on taxable items, having nothing to save. While the rich can buy, probably more, but still save money , therefore making the poor pay more of their income in taxes.

Honestly, I don't feel sorry for a cig tax hurting anyone, the lower classes should probably spend less on an expensive habit that is absolutely unnecessary. If a person wants to blow their money on tobacco and needs that extra money(which is a big expense for the average smoker), then let them, I don't care but there shouldn't be any complaints.

I think our definitions of 'poor' differ a great deal.

Im using poor to describe the lower class, not ness. what could be construed as poor, but the lower class.
